National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is a special annual event organised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Each year, a selected Australian picture book is read simultaneously across the country in schools, libraries, childcare centres, bookshops, and homes.
This shared reading experience celebrates the joy of stories and highlights the importance of reading and literacy. It also introduces children to quality Australian literature, with themes suited to students from Foundation to Year 6.
This year, NSS will take place on 27 May, featuring the book Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller.
We warmly encourage all our Distance Education (DE) families to visit their local public library and be part of this nationwide event, joining children across Australia and New Zealand in reading together.
This is a free event and no booking is required.
If attending a public library is not possible, families are welcome to register independently through ALIA to access the official video reading and supporting resources at home.
With blessings from the Library Team.
Always keep learning!
