Careers News | Preparing for SET Plan Meetings

TERM 3 2026 Year 9 into Year 10 SET Plan meetings 

SET Plan time is rapidly approaching for year 9 students. A Year 9 into Year 10 Information Night will be held on the 23/07/26 starting at 4pm. This meeting covers all the basics of QCE, ATAR, SET Plan requirements and pathways planning. There will also be brief information moments with a University and two Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s), including TAFE. We will also be launching the new Careers Website which is super exciting! 

We look forward to seeing all the Year 9 families at the information session and meeting with you all to get plans in place for your students to start moving towards their post school goals. 

Careers/Pathways Staff Changes

As of the end of Term 2 2026 Mrs Danielle Todio will be on Maternity Leave for 12 Months. During this time Mrs Simonette McMinn will be rejoining the Pathways/Careers team as the VET and Pathways Support Officer.Please be aware that Mrs Simonette McMinn will not commence in this role until Monday the 31st of August meaning that between Thursday the 25th of June and Monday the 31st of August Certificate Courses and School Based Traineeship applications will be closed.We look forward to having Mrs McMinn back with the Pathways Team working alongside Mrs Joan Pavey.Please contact Mrs Simonette McMinn via simonettemcminn@acc.edu.au.

We also want to wish Danielle all the best with her new journey of being a Mum. We pray that the new little one will bring you and your family great joy and blessing. Thank you for all you have done in the V.E.T space and we look forward to welcoming you back in July 2027! 

NEW Careers Website Launching Term 3!

As of Term 3 we will be launching our new careers platform called The Careers Department. The Careers platform is your go-to hub for exploring exciting opportunities, NEW Virtual Work Experience, discovering career pathways, completing fun career quizzes, and staying up to date with the latest announcements and events. Stay tuned for more information to come!!!

Work Experience Changes

Due to Government Requirements and Duty of Care for our Students we will no longer be running Work Experience in Distance Education. We have our new Careers Platform that offers Virtual Work Experience for over 250 industries with no limit on how many students can complete it. If students wish to participate in work experience with businesses they will need to engage their own insurance with Work Cover Queensland, the school will no longer provide insurance for work experience.
